Everybody Rides Program

Participant Eligibility Guidelines

Everybody Rides will make every effort to meet the needs of all riders who apply for equine assisted activity and/or therapy. Safety is the main premise of determining eligibility for Everybody Rides programs.

The following factors are considerations for acceptance and placement in programs.

a. Age (no one under the age of three)
b. Weight limit of 180 lb. (not applicable to ground work sessions)
c. Height limit of 6’4”
d. Degree of disability
e. Medical conditions, including precautions and contraindications
f. Behavior that is harmful to him/herself or others
g. Experience and expertise of available instructors
h. Availability of horses and adaptive equipment
i. Availability of volunteers
j. Access to on-site therapists for hippotherapy
k. Scheduling flexibility

If it is determined that the resources available to serve participants are not adequate, those individuals may be referred to a more suitable program..

Pre-riding Assessment:
Each potential rider will receive an initial evaluation by a NARHA certified instructor. Based on this evaluation , the rider will be advised if mounted activities are appropriate for him/her. In some situations, a current rider’s condition may change and a re-evaluation becomes necessary.
